News & Updates

February 2023

My new novella, Lamplight, is about to release, and I figured this was a good time to update this page!

I'm stoked for the release. The novella was originally intended as part of a dark fairy tales anthology, but as it developed further and became longer, I became freakishly obsessed with it.  I'm happy it gets to be its own thing. Lamplight deserves it.

Other news!

I've donated a short story, Named, to a cat anthology by the name of Purranormal Tails: A Fantastical Cat Anthology. It's filled with fantasy tales that include cats in some fashion. Named follows a young street cat desperate to find her cat name. There's love, rescue and adventure on her journey. My inspiration was absolutely our cat who was a former Egyptian street kitten. The poor thing was found at 4-weeks old being chased by Tom cats and was taken in and rescued in Egypt before being sent to Canada and landing with me as a kitty foster.

Turns out I am a terrible foster and any animal that enters my home can expect to be loved and fawned over forever. All this to say that animal rescues are important and special to me. Any proceeds from the anthology sales go directly to two animal rescues who do great things like taking care of orphan kittens and stuff.  Basically, the kind of places where even a small amount of funds make a huge difference, and save animal lives.

More news (so much news...)!

Even though Ancients and Silver Bells and Cockle Shells are both drafted, and simply begging for my attention, I've decided to focus all my efforts on my Lion's Pride series. Book 1, When the Stars Whisper, is currently undergoing editing, and I'm going to be diving right into writing and editing book two next. My *hope* is that the trilogy will be a rapid release so no one is left in suspense for very long.
Why focus on this series and neglect my poor other book babies, you say? I'm just so fascinated by the world I've created, and I can't get lost in those other worlds right now-tempting though they may be.

Picture a medieval human world ruled by maniacal lionshifters who fight to maintain power and control over their subjects. The line of kings has ruled for 300 years, in part by murdering any male lion shifters not of their line.  The girls, they get sent to the palace to be raised by the Servants of the Stars and eventually included in the King's harem. It's all very cool.

Everything is just getting that much more rich and intriguing the longer I sit with this world and explore its characters. Also, I'm working with an amazing cover designer, and I just can't wait to see what we come up with!
That's all from me for now!  I'll be sending out newsletters to update readers on my progress, so...get on that!

April 21st, 2022

Covid totally took our household down these past few weeks and while I managed to release a double episode of The Lion's Pride during the time we were quarantining me away from everyone else, I wasn't so lucky last week.

I managed to prep and release the missing episode now and it's one of my favourites.

This episode introduces the perspective of Solaris; a human serving the royal family of lion shifters.  Solaris has a secret.  A secret she'd be killed over.

She can commune with the stars, and she's been lying to Hannah at their behest.
